FAQ

Frequenctly asked questions

What is Grunt Productions?

We are a collective/company of musicians with similar outlooks to how music should be made. It is the umbrella name under which the four core members administer their creative output; this is why the products and services are so varied.

Why are you called Grunt Productions?

The name stems from "Grunt Brothers", the original band name. When the brothers Max and Theo were asked what this band was going to be called... they just grunted.

Where do you work?

This September (2004) we are completing the year long relocation into London and all normal services will be cut from Belfast.

Whats the best way to contact you?

The best and quickest was is via e-mail or telephone. Our contact details are all on the contact page.

Why are there so many ensemble categories?

As the genres and combinations of music that we play increase it has

become necessary to rename the ensemble into smaller groups. The drum'n'bass band 'Physic' for example is so different to the gp ensemble playing dinner jazz that the same name would not be appropriate. Also as more people become evolved with us -DJs, session player, producers- the whole musical output and direction changes. Of course this keeps everything from going stale and adds to the excitement of working in such a group. To go to the ensemble page click - here -

How much does it cost too book an ensemble?

This depends on; how many people, how much gear, how far, how long and what the event is. We are all members of the musicians union and therefore try to follow their recommended costs.

How are MB publications and Potent Records linked with Grunt Productions?

These are 'sister' companies to Grunt Productions and are owned by Mark

and Max Buckingham respectively. All three companies share some of the same resources and support each other.
