Live at Cafe Cairo

Every Thursday IOTA perform at Cafe Cairo, free of charge, the Quartet plus guests (by arrangement) and a rota of jazz DJs, Xian of Listeners Digest, Dylan and Nathan. Guests include Gaz-Moog, Danny-guitar, Aran-perc and DJ, Julian A Wilson-MC, Live @ Cafe Cairo CD now available from gigs.

Custom Signature 925 Tenor Saxophone by Trevor J. James

In July Mark is being presented with a Signature Custom Solid Silver Body Tenor Saxophone. All performances and recording thereafter will be using this amazing British instrument from the maker Trevor J. James & Co. The first recorded works on the instrument will be Good Bye Pork Pie Hat and Lover Man. These tracks will be available the on the CD Solo. Mark Buckingham. Which also contains versions of Misty, Tenderly, Stardust (on Alto) and improvisations on alto and Eb clarinets. (not forgetting the Flintstone's Theme for solo bass clarinet). Jammin' the Blues News

The publisher Kevin Mayhew Ltd has taken over the publishing and distribution of the new version of Jammin' The Blues. The contents will remain the same but the look of the book will be changed to suit their style and market. There is some stock of the original style of the book still available, they will not be reprinted here after, so order now if you would like the original book.
As a development for Jammin' students a CD that contains the blues sequence in all keys. This cd is now available from the shop.

Audiophile Acetate

Mark Buckingham has just produced a 1/1 vinyl acetate to celebrate the turntable masters 50th birthday, Simon Yorke www.recordplayer.com The acetate had on side1, 3 solos recorded onto a mono Nagra reel to reel, and then cut to acetate with no compressers or limiters to interfere with the audio. Side 2 had 2 alto saxophone solos cut straight to disc in the Cutting Suite Studio in Clapham. The resulting sound according to Simon and colleagues, is outstanding. Mark is now considering making a solo 'live to acetate album at 45 rpm'. Recordplayer.com is down at present, info on isenbergaudio.de and audiosalon.co.uk.
